About Me

Introduction

Hello, I’m Steve Giles, a BACP-registered counsellor offering counselling in South East London and online across the UK.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties…

My Background

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over 20 years working in variety of leadership roles. During that time I managed teams, handled complex responsibilities and worked within environments where expectations and pressure were often high.

This experience gave me a strong understanding of the challenges that many professionals face, including workplace stress, responsibility for others, difficult decisions and the pressure to maintain performance.

I understand how easy it can be to appear as though everything is under control while privately feeling overwhelmed, anxious or exhausted.

This experience means I have a strong understanding of stress, pressure, and burnout — particularly in work and life transitions.

My Approach to Counselling

My approach to counselling is grounded, collaborative and supportive.

I believe that each person’s experience is unique and that counselling should provide a space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions in a way that feels safe and respectful.

In our sessions, we may explore:

  • The challenges you are currently experiencing
  • Patterns or experiences that may be influencing your thoughts and feelings
  • The emotional impact of stress, anxiety or life transitions
  • Ways to better understand yourself and your needs

Rather than offering quick solutions, counselling focuses on developing insight, awareness and emotional understanding, which can support meaningful and lasting change.

Who I Work With

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief, low self-esteem and life transitions.

Many clients come to counselling during periods of change or uncertainty, when they feel overwhelmed by the demands of work, relationships or life circumstances.

Counselling offers an opportunity to pause, reflect and begin to understand what is happening in your life.
